What is a Parlay?
A parlay combines 2 or more bets into one wager. All legs must win for the parlay to pay out. The odds multiply together — a win on every leg produces a large combined payout, but one loss means the entire parlay loses.
The House Edge on Parlays
Parlays compound the sportsbook's vig on every leg. A 2-leg parlay at -110/-110 pays +260 instead of the true +283. The more legs, the more edge the house has. Parlays are high variance entertainment — they rarely offer long-run value.
When Parlays Make Sense
Parlays can be +EV when you have a genuine edge on each leg (e.g., you believe each pick is mispriced). Correlated parlays — like same-game parlays where outcomes are linked — can reduce the house edge if priced poorly by the book. Always calculate before you bet.
